What are the best alternatives for Interlux Brightside

In 2024 the Interlux Brightside and Interlux Perfection have been discontinued. In this article we explain the alternative that are available on the market from Epifanes.

Why Epifanes?

Epifanes is a well-established varnish and paint company where most of our products are already used by professional boat yards and consumers worldwide for many years. Despite the fact that Interlux has been discontinuing the one and two component line, Epifanes still continues to develop and produce these lines further in to the future. All Epifanes products are especially formulated for the Marine Industry and are therefore perfect for your boat.

What are the best alternatives for Interlux Perfection?

Interlux Perfection is a two component paint. That means that it can be repainted with a one- or a two-component paint. However, since there is a two component paint on the boat, it would be best to continue with a two component paint from Epifanes. This product is called Epifanes Poly-urethane paint. This is a chemical drying paint which reacts when component A and B are mixed together. This product is best applied by brush and/or roller. For spray applications we always recommend Epifanes PU Speedcoat which is specially developed for spray applications. The added UV-absorbers in the Poly-urethane can make this paint last for years to even decades if the paint is well maintained. When you apply this paint on a previous painted surface, clean the surface well and start with sanding with a medium grit sandpaper.

What is the color range for Epifanes Poly-urethane paint?

The Epifanes color range consists of 20 standard colors. This wide range of colors can suit most boat owners with a right color. However, it is also possible to make custom made colors on request. Since these cans have to be produced, it is advised to order them well in advance.

What is the best alternative for Interlux Brightside?

Interlux Brightside is a one component paint. That means that is can only be repainted with a one component paint. The best alternative for this paint is the Epifanes Mono-urethane paint. Epifanes Mono-urethane is a hard, high gloss one component paint. It has exceptional flow abilities and becomes very tough. You can start working from 41°F, but optimally you start painting the surface with Mono-urethane from 59°F or above. When you paint below 59°F the flow will become less and the drying time of 24 hours sharply increases. With the strong UV absorber in the Mono-urethane, this paint can last for years even in the strongest UV area’s.

What is the color range for Epifanes Mono-urethane paint?

Epifanes has 24 standard colors in the Mono-urethane. With this wide range of colors you can always find a good color to match your boat. However, if you can not find the right color, Epifanes can produce many colors on request.
